SINGLE PLAYER: LET'S BOWL!
To play single player bowling game, select either 'Quick Play', or (in the One Player Games menu) either the 'Play Now!', or '3-Game Series.'
Choose a Starting position - You can start your shot from anywhere on the lane. Use the Left / Right arrow keys to position the ball where you want to start your approach. You can also use the '4' key to move the ball to the left, and use the '6' key to move the ball to the right.
Start the Power Meter - To start the Power Meter on the right side of the screen, press 'Select' or '5'. Remember, for ALL game meters, you can use the 'Select' key or the '5' key to set the meters.
Set the Power for your upcoming shot - To set the Power for your upcoming shot, press 'Select' or '5' when you see the Power meter moving up and down on the right side of the screen. Try to stop the meter on the spot about three-quarters of the way up the meter where the two arrows meet. This is the "optimum" power setting. To overpower, stop the meter above the "optimum" power setting. To throw your shot a bit slower, stop the meter below the "optimum" power setting.
Set the Aim for your upcoming shot - The Aim Meter is a small triangle that will start moving back and forth across the screen right after you set your Power Meter. To set the Aim for your upcoming shot, press 'Select' or '5' when the Aim Meter lines up in the direction that you want to aim your shot. Your shot will roll in a straight line from the starting position on through the spot where the Aim Meter is stopped.
Set the Spin for your upcoming shot - After setting the Aim, the Spin Meter at the top of the screen will move back and forth. Press 'Select' or '5' to set the Spin Meter for your upcoming shot. If you stop the Spin Meter on the left side of the middle marking, the ball will spin to the left. If you stop the Spin Meter on the right side of the middle marking, the ball will spin to the right. If you stop the Spin Meter on the middle marking the ball will not spin at all. For maximum spin to the left, stop the Spin Meter on the far left side. For maximum spin to the right, stop the Spin Meter on the far right side.
How do I make the best shots?
Start your shots by trying to hit the "Optimum" Power Marking on the right. The "Optimum" marking gives you a solid shot that can be controlled better than an overpowered shot. Overpowered shots will give you more pin action, but these shots are harder to control.
For most spares, hitting the "Optimum" Power Marking is usually enough to get the pick-up. For splits or spares with 5 pins or more, you may need a little extra power to generate more pin action.
How do I "Save" my shots?
The Spin Meter can be used to "Save" a bad shot. If after setting the Power Meter and Aim Meter it appears your ball will not hit the head pin, then use extra spin to bring the ball back to where it should have been in the first place. For example, if it appears your ball is heading too far to the left, make sure to set the Spin Meter on the far right to bring the ball back towards the middle of the lane.
