Starting the Game
First, highlight the "EA SPORTS™ 2006 FIFA World Cup™" icon in the game menu on your phone. This maybe in another menu such as Applications depending on your phone. Once the game is highlighted, press the "Select" button to start the game. Again depending on the phone, this maybe labelled differently. After a splash screen, the game's main menu will appear.
Game Objective
Objective of EA SPORTS™ 2006 FIFA World Cup™ is to choose your favourite team, players and lead them to glory by winning the World Cup. The game will contain all 32 qualified countries and you will be able to select your favourite players, customize your tactics and formations.
GAME MODES
SHOOT OUT:
Penalty shoot out between two selectable teams.
TUTORIAL:
Practice match against static opponents.
QUICK MATCH:
Play a game where the phone randomly selects 2 teams.
FRIENDLY:
Same as Quick Match, expect this time you get to choose your own teams.
2006 WORLD CUP:
Choose your favourite team and progress through the group stages and into the final 16 Knock Out stages of the 2006 World Cup. There will be 7 matches in total which you have to win in order to win the cup!
HOW TO PLAY:
MOVING:
To move your player use the D-pad/Joystick or the following keys:
Up-Left = 1
Up = 2
Up-Right = 3
Left = 4
Right = 6
Down-Left = 7
Down = 8
Down-Right = 9
PASSING:
Press the D-pad/Joystick or the # or 5 keys to pass.
Short Pass = quick tap (left half of Shot Meter) to pass to player marked with blue triangle.
Long Pass = hold key (right half of Shot Meter) to pass to player marked with orange triangle.
Through Pass = quick tap when red dots appear.
Cross Pass = quick tap when blue dots appear (only works when player is left or right of 18-yard box).
Header = quick tap while the ball is in the air.
SHOOTING:
Press the Right Soft Key (RSK) or the * key to shoot.
Lob Shot = quick tap (left half of Shot Meter).
Direct Shot = hold key (right half of Shot Meter).
Clearance Kick = quick tap while in defensive half of pitch.
DEFENDING:
Switch Player = press the D-pad/Joystick or the # or 5 keys.
Slide Tackle = press the RSK or the * key.
Use 2 and 8 keys or up and down on the D-Pad/Joystick to cycle through menu options, and 5 or the left softkey to select. Some menus are larger than the screen, in this case you can move the content left and right using 4 and 6 or left and right on the D-Pad/Joystick, and highlight up and down with 2 and 8 or up and down on the D-Pad/Joystick. The right softkey takes you back to the previous menu
TUTORIAL - Play a very easy match against stationary opponents to get a feel for the game.
QUICK MATCH - play a friendly match using two randomly selected teams.
FRIENDLY - play a friendly match against any opponent.
CUP - start or continue a knockout tournament. When starting a new cup tournament you will be prompted to select your team.
SHOOT OUT - play either a 1 player or 2 player's penalty shoot out competition.
Tip One: Make sure you come 1st or 2nd in your group to progress through to the knock out stage.
Tip Two: New to the game? Familiarise yourself with the Tutorial Mode and learn all the moves!
Tip Three: Remember to carefully select your line up, formation and strategies to get the best results.
Tip Four: Play all the different game modes to gain more experience and skill.
Tip Five: Make sure you use your substitutions to avoid player fatigue!
Tip Six: The weather will affect your player's performance, beware and take precautions!
Tip Seven: Press the Left Softkey for a breather, and view current statistics or change your tactics.
Tip Eight: Coloured triangles and dots mean different passes - experiment for best results!
Tip Nine: Use the Lob shot when you see the opposition goalkeeper off their line!
Tip Ten: All teams have their own strengths and weaknesses; see if you can choose your best team.
Tip Eleven: Make sure you time your tackles right, otherwise you could be in for an early bath!
