How to Play
General Rules
Each game consists of a series of rounds played with one human player and three computer players. Each round contains four phases: Auction, Build, Manage, and Summary. Each player starts out with $15,000 and a randomly selected property. At the start of each subsequent round, a random property will be up for auction. Players then build businesses in order to achieve the most profit. Play continues until the scenario objective is met, or only one player remains in the game.
The more stars a property has represents the quality level of the business shoppers expect built on that property.
Auction Phase
During the Auction Phase, one property selected at random will be up for auction. The auction is a once-around auction which means each player will have only one chance to bid or pass. In addition, the bidding order is randomized at the start of each auction.
Build Phase
During the Build Phase, you may build businesses on the properties that you own. You may select the type, size, and quality of your business. You may only build a hotel if you own all the properties in that color group. You may also change or demolish your already existing businesses. Remember, the size and quality of the business affects the cost to build and maintain the property.
Manage Phase
During the Manage Phase, you may adjust the stock price of each of your businesses. Remember to check on your opponents' businesses to compare prices. The '#' key will toggle through different information graphs.
Summary Phase
The final phase of each round is the summary phase. In this phase, you can see how well you rank compared to your opponents in overall profit, sell through, and percentage of sales.
The sell through graph shows sold stock (green bar) and unsold stock (yellow bar) for all player's businesses.
Pause Menu
In the pause menu, you can toggle the tutorial screens, sound, and vibration on or off. In addition, you can access the supply & demand chart for businesses.
Supply & Demand
The supply & demand menu displays how many businesses of each type are currently built. In addition, it displays the demand for each type of business and whether the demand is increasing or decreasing.
Sell through by player shows how much stock was sold for all of a player's businesses. Sell through by business shows how much stock was sold for all businesses of that type.
The green bar shows sold stock and the yellow bar shows unsold stock.
The objective leader screen shows who is leading according to the scenario objective.
Railroads and Utilities
Railroads and utilities always pay the owner each round based on the number of businesses that exist that round. Owning multiple railroads or utilities greatly increases the pay received each round. Railroads and utilities cannot be micromanaged in the same way businesses can. There are no costs associated with owning railroads or utilities.
Saving/Loading
Games are auto saved upon exiting the application. You may also save the game in the pause menu. A saved game maybe resumed from the main menu.
