Saving/Loading

| Orcs & Elves II allows you to save your game progress at any time so you can return directly to the spot at which you stopped playing. Proceed to the in-game Pause Menu and select "Save Game" to save your progress. You can also choose "Load Game" from the Pause Menu to go back to your last save. Orcs & Elves II will also auto-save your game as you progress to a new level (e.g. when exiting through an exit tunnel). In the Main Menu, select "Start Game" and then "Continue" to resume the game from your last session.

The Map

A map will track your progress through the lands. Areas you have visited are filled in while areas you have not visited are blank. To access your map, access the Pause Menu, press the right soft key or "#" on the keypad.

The Quest Log

All relevant information discovered within levels will be stored in your Quest Log. To access your Quest Log, select "Quest Log" in the Pause Menu.

Inventory

The inventory of items you have upon starting the game, or have gathered during your journey, can be accessed through the Pause Menu. The useful items listed below can be accessed and inspected within the "Inventory" menu.

Weapons -- Though you start your quest with only a staff, a wand, and a dagger, you can obtain many more weapons during your journey. Select "Weapons" within the "Inventory" submenu to view your current equipment. Select "Details" with the right soft-key to view Damage, Accuracy, Range, and Special modifiers of any weapon.

Armor -- Armor deflects damage that would ordinarily decrease Health. Weaker armors like leather do not deflect as much damage as more durable armors like diamond. Select "Details" with the right soft key to view Deflect and Durability modifiers to your current armor. Damaged armor can be repaired by using an armor kit, found in the "Other" subsection.

Potions - You have a multitude of potions at your disposal. Some potions can heal you when wounded, while others can provide bonuses to statistics like strength or defense. Potion effects can also "stack," which means bonuses can be added together when a potion is quaffed multiple times. However, when you "stack" potions, each quaff spends a turn. Select "Potions" within the "Inventory" submenu to view your current potions. Select "Details" with the right soft key to view the Duration and Effects of each potion.

Rings - Rings, once equipped, have magical properties that can affect the status of your character. Select "Rings" within the "Inventory" submenu to view your current rings. Select "Details" with the right soft key to view the status effect of the ring and press "OK" to equip a ring.

There are rumors that many more items and weapons are hidden throughout the lands. Explore all of the stronghold's passageways to discover them all!

Combat

Orcs & Elves II is a role-playing experience that allows you to "level up" your character to become more powerful. Your character can level up by gaining XP (experience points) through killing monsters, accomplishing tasks or finding secrets. Each time your character goes up a level, his base statistic increases making him more powerful. In Orcs & Elves II you have these statistics at your disposal:

Health: The amount of damage your character can sustain before dying. The higher your level, the more maximum health you have. Your character will die once your health drops to or below zero.

Defense: Your ability to defend yourself against incoming damage. The higher your defense, the less damage you will take.

Strength: Your ability to inflict damage upon your enemies. The higher your strength, the more damage you will do to monsters.

Accuracy: Your ability to land a hit on an enemy. The higher your accuracy, the more likely you will hit an enemy and land "critical damage" (twice the normal damage inflicted).
