Horizontal moves are better than Vertical moves - It's better to line up three gems horizontally than vertically. When a horizontal row is removed from the board, then three or more rows will cascade downwards, increasing the likelihood of gaining extra bonus points.
Next move hint - If you can't think of the next move to make, don't stop looking! After a while, Bejeweled will reveal another move by flashing two gems.
Try to plan moves in advance - Try to anticipate how the gems will fall once you make a move. By considering how the gems will fall, you will be able to string together longer rows of gems to earn more points.
