JAMDAT SPORTS NBA 2005 Tips & Hints
Color shot indicators
The color icons that appear under the players indicate the shot difficulty.
The circular shaped indicator is used for the player on your team that you control.
The star shaped indicator is used for the opposing team.
Green = undefended (shot most likely will succeed)
Yellow = defender is close (shot may or may not succeed)
Red = well defended (shot most likely will not succeed)
Flames = powered-up (powered-up moves are available)
Create shooting opportunities
Move your player away from the opposing defenders to create yellow and green indicators. Green shots are the easiest to make. The closer you are to the basket and the farther you are from your defenders, the easier it will be to create and make 'green' shots.
'Juke' your opponents
The opponents will react to your movements. Start heading in one direction, and then quickly change direction and head the other way. Your opponents might not react as fast! Use this to create 'green' shooting opportunities.
Use the diagonal keys on the handset for maximum player control
Make sure to use the diagonal movement keys (1, 3, 7, 9) to get better angles on offense and defense. In general, it is better to use the number keys on the handset to control your player and play the game (you cannot move diagonally by using the direction pad).
Watch the 24-second clock
Do not take too long to get off a shot, or the 24-second clock will run out and you will turn the ball over to the opponent.
Use the Power-Up meter
The basketball icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen indicates the level of your Power-Up Meter. Three shots in a row (without a miss) will fill the power-up meter and give the player a flaming status disc. At this point, the # key will activate the player's special moves.
Time your blocks
Watch the opposing players, they will often pause just before shooting! Use that tip to help time your blocks for the best chance of stopping shots!
Check out your stats!
From the Main Menu, highlight the "Help & Stats" menu to see your statistics. You can also select the clear statistics option if you want to start from scratch!
